I think that last part is very smart. I took a ton of profit today. Sold half or more of some VERY green positions and no am back to lots of cash, some free calls, and even some longer dates puts in SPY. I'm ready to buy another dip, but only at support and with tight stops in place.... also more likely to do that in the stocks I like and not indexes.

August through October will be fun for the bears and I'll be one of them... at which point I think tax reform and an infrastructure bill before the holidays will start us on the path to DOW 30k and SPX 3k.
