Agreed, mdphd2008. Patients treated with chemotherapy and/or high dose radiation for glioblastoma and other solid tumors have a high incidence of oral mucositis. Many don't understand that (1) radiation to the oropharyngeal cavity results in moderate/severe oral mucositis in the vast majority of patients and (2) high dose radiation at any location can result in severe oral mucositis and (3) chemotherapy for most tumors can result in oral mucositis. Moderate to severe oral mucositis disrupts treatment regimens and increases morbidity and mortality.
