You wouldn't necessarily conserve capital if there was basically no capital left to conserve and you were throwing hail marys in the hope that something might attract some interest from someone who might help your finances.

Hiring a new CFO makes some good press and costs relatively little up front -- relocation expenses and $50,000 signing bonus. His salary is $15,000 biweekly until a miracle happens or the company goes belly up.

In the meantime, recruiting somebody from Singapore leaves the impression that MNKD is working some overseas deal and boosts the stock price -- temporarily. Unfortunately for MNKD, the street is now well aware of its past shenanigans in misleading investors with smoke and mirrors. Having been many multiple times bitten, the street is now many multiple times shy.
