I think that Tom's Hardware article was a little alarmist. Granted Techspot had to use a pretty high end cooler but it worked out fine.
(Winter in Australia didn't hurt either)

More to the point it got to 375 W instead of 400. If you read the comments all the talk was of Delidding and fixing Intel's cheap out thermal paste ...
