I have been through others too, and the stock symbol always changes. They CAN'T have the same exact stock symbol at two prices - the original in your portfolio and the new price in the market. Even if you didn't SEE a symbol change, which Finra itself usually does, there was probably a secondary name/number to keep the pre-and post-shares separate until they are properly merged.
