70 is the new 50...and he obviously has some real, solid medical management and leadership experience. Looking at his resume, it's likely the case he was initially brought in by the BOD to succeed DOC. Dan probably knew that as well. You don't bring in someone with that background and don't put them in a top spot. DOC probably just tapped out to the pressure knowing his replacement was already in place (albeit he's not yet been made/named permanent, which is odd.) Perhaps just a stopgap to a sale? He also has that experience. Who knows. Just theorizing.
