Warrants used to be very popular in lower priced IPOs (priced as units) back in the 80s and 90s. Investors loved them. When the IPO opened they'd break the unit up and trade it separately. If the common moved up say 10-20 % the warrants would go up 50% or higher depending on the exercise price.
Companies liked them because it allowed them to raise more money without an offering.
