My guess is he over paid for "services" to wash the money clean. Tough to prove really.
And it is just my gut feeling but China wasn't scared. I think there is something about the site or ore that only a geologist with current mining experience in these processes in Canada would be able to identify that causes the cash output of the mine not worth the return over time. I have always thought there could be a likely waste issue. But this part of a mining plan has never been investigated under current law.
