It's not fair to say all OTCs are alike. Perhaps you meant to say 'all pink sheets', in which case, fine, they're unabashedly the wild west. But presuming all OTCs are the same ignores companies like Volkswagen, many promising biopharma startups, a few reputable domestic mj companies, not to mention all the foreign ADRs.
I bought a relatively small position in EPTI yesterday, so I'm not thrilled, but I bought the chart, didn't do any DD, so if it turns out to be a scam that's fair enough I guess, even though I wish there was a better system in place than two weeks of limbo followed by grey market with no L2.
I think it is worth bearing in mind that promo mailers pick on the least savvy and most gullible people, and you might say, ok, well a fool and his money are soon parted, and that's fair enough too I suppose to let a promo run its course. Certainly in this case I would have preferred it for my own ass. I thought this post was going to reach a satisfying conclusion, but all I've said is that I see the point of view of both the SEC and of course the daytraders who got screwed by the SEC on this trade. FML waste of a post lol.
