I don't think anything in that statement is accurate

He worried about having issues but confirmed it was able to be spun on existing machinery

if I recall correctly, kim apparently had major concerns about ms being able to be weaved on machinery used by warwick..he just didn't tell anyone..as usual no shareholder had a clue there were any potential issues..everyone was fat and happy believing it was nothing but smooth sailing..and apparently the issue would have added years to the time kblb needed..of course as it turns out, kim managed to take years (and counting) anyway..

kim put out a pr stating that ms worked on warwicks machines which had that not been true would have added years to kblb's timeframe..
the wording of the pr was a bit confusing (as they all are)..kim has been a lawyer for so long, and is so used to deceiving his shareholders, he has difficulty simply being honest when he has no need to be otherwise..

This is all I remember regarding existing machinery:

“One of the biggest issues facing our Company was creating our first textile and the open question of whether genetically engineered spider silk could be successfully processed using existing textile formation methods,” said Company founder and CEO, Kim K. Thompson.  “With this successful test, and the creation of the first Monster Silk™ knits, we have established that our genetically engineered spider silk works well with existing manufacturing methods.  The creation of these knits is a huge milestone in our progress toward making genetically engineered spider silk available for industrial and consumer applications. The fact that these advanced materials process well on existing machinery will help speed up the development of advanced spider silk textiles.”
