I remember asking a fido rep point blank about the same thing and he told me clearly and positively that if i own outright my shares then they are not for loan.

since the dot com bust in 2001, i have laid off the margin business and also the shorting strategy once i realized shorting required a whole level of competency more than i can muster , at least. lol

My FIDO account to which I speak is a cash account.

Prior to that loan program agreement, I asked at both FIDO and at ETrade (higher ups) if they loaned out shares from my accounts and was told they do not loan out shares, similar to what linhdtu mentioned. That was for both cash and margin accounts.

I suspect one needs to hold significant numbers of shares to make it worthwhile for the broker sponsor of any loan agreement. I define significant as several thousand shares, minimum, say 2-3K FGEN shares minimum, as an example.
