"Eleven Ways the Trump Administration May Try to Kill Legal Marijuana" (6 hours ago)

"Members of the Justice Department’s Task Force on Crime Reduction and Public Safety have been ordered to "undertake a review of existing policies" regarding federal marijuana law enforcement, among other things. Their report is due on or before July 27, and the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws believes the document may use as its template a list by a fellow at the ultra-conservative Heritage Foundation of eleven ways the administration of President Donald Trump can shut down legal cannabis. The tactics, shared below, include employing the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO), as was just allowed via a ruling in a potentially groundbreaking marijuana-smell lawsuit in Colorado earlier this month."

Don't delude yourself-- Trump, Sessions and all other politicians will do ANYTHING to stay in power. Republicans owe much of their power to conservative Christians. Unfortunately those people view marijuana use as both a "sin" and a "vice." Trump's older brother Robert died at 46 from to chronic alcoholism so he's no fan of mind altering substances which he considers "weaknesses." His death caused Donald Trump to avoid alcohol and cigarettes.

However, aside from votes, politicians have an insatiable lust for money... primarily because it gives them a better shot at re-election. MJ/ MMJ are in competition with Big Pharma. So until MJ starts greasing the political wheels with lots of money, votes or both they face an uphill battle against religious zealots.

Groups like The Heritage Foundation do the actual policy research and "thinking" for politicians.
