RLTR Streamer now works with Windows Media and Flash

Windows Media Player support
Support for Windows Media Player was undocumented and experimental in version 1.0. In the 1.1 offering, this support has been fleshed out and improved to include support for many different implementation modes of the Windows Media Player control object as well as the external Windows Media Player. Both PowerGrid and non-PowerGrid content is supportable. The _Javascript API encapsulates and simplifies the potential complexities of managing differing media player support technologies among several different browsers, allowing for wide support in providing Windows Media based content.

Windows Media Player Launch
The external Windows Media Player application may be launched from a web page using the PowerGrid controls and the _Javascript API. This allows for high-quality streaming Windows Media content, including playlists, to be delivered to a player independent from the constraints of a web page.

Embedded Windows Media Player
The embedded version of the Windows Media Player is of course also fully supported. Here, the _Javascript API may be used even on systems where PowerGrid is not installed. This allows you to create advanced web pages that will support a wide variety of user configurations, or to very easily upgrade an existing Windows Media delivery site to become enhanced via PowerGrid for those who choose to use it.

Playlist compatible streaming
The Windows Media Player support includes the ability to process Windows Media ".wpl" style playlists, able to reference content from the Grid or from conventional sources equally. Full, unified, _Javascript scripting support The embedded Windows Media Player control is fully scriptable using the same basic API methods as the standard PowerGrid Player, or of the new Flash-based player. This allows for easy multi-format support and code reusability. In addition, the Windows Media Player may be fully scripted independently, using Microsoft's Media Player Object Model. There is no need to revisit your existing Windows Media scripting, or limit your features to a common subset.

Flash support
Flash video, or FLV, is a popular format for video distribution. With PowerGrid 1.1, delivery of Flash FLV video can be enhanced with the power of the Grid, and can also offer advanced media-server types of control normally only available via proprietary RTMP protocol servers. Furthermore, through use of the PowerGrid _Javascript SDK and Flash-based player, both PowerGrid alternate URL sources can reference standard HTTP or RTMP sources when PowerGrid is not installed.
