Keith, first, confusing. There is no mention of any OEM behind this deal. Does AMD act on its own, just subcontracting Newisys? Will that piss-off IBM? Who's going to support that?
Second, amazing. AMD managed to sell close to 20,000 Opterons to top-500 supercomputers, and that's just the beginning. I'm afraid they are strongly manufacturing-bound with Opteron, this chip theoretically retired Xeon, but can't can't take over it because of small volume.
