The Cuban government has indicated that it is ready to enter into comprehensive negotiations with the Trump administration as the White House plans to announce its expected rollback of President Obama's normalization of relations with the country, CNN reports.
Cuban President Raul Castro is open to formulating a new agreement with President Donald Trump, a high-level Cuban government official told CNN.
"We know they have a different view of the world. We understand that," the Cuban official said of Havana's stance regarding new negotiations.
However, Cuba does not anticipate the Trump administration to effectively reverse the Obama-era policy and close the U.S. Embassy in Havana.
That would be the "nuclear option," the Cuban official said.
Trump is expected to announce his new policy toward Cuba on Friday in Miami.
