I would say 10k is both a cheap way to get filled as well as keep the price where someone wants it. Think of 10k bids as bait. It's big enough to keep really cheap players away but small enough for others to use and manipulate. It's kind of like saying ok I'll offer u some shares at 5, u are at 7, so u throw some at 6 to close the gap. It's like the way of talking between brokers.
