#6794 RE: Justin C #6793

confused.Justin...

I played around with posting a picture last night but apparently it has to be on the web first in order to do it. I can only do it via email.

Oh well... a thousand words are worth a picture. I have to think this description through and try to do better. Running late... recycle day... takes me longer to get to the machine.

The parking area is blacktop. It is only a car length from the garage to the road. The area on the side of the garage toward the house is big enough to hold two good-sized utility trucks. Stairs lead from that to the second level of grass. You walk a bit more downhill then down more stairs to the house. Lots of fun to dig one's way out in the winter. <g>

The retaining wall is in the back holding it up. It is made of wood beams that are about 6" x 6" at the end and vary in length. They are stacked and staked together with a couple of long log-type pieces that go back under the parking area for stability. You just see the end, not the length of them.

At this point, the macadam no longer reaches to the top beams to seal it. Probably from the expansion of the earth when it freezes in the winter. Now there is a visible hole in the corner where the stairs are. It is a low point as the parking area slopes downhill. When it gets icy around here, I cannot get the car to the street... only a car length... yet I love winter. <g>

When it pours, there is so much water coming down the road (also a hill) that it overflows the lip between the parking area and the road meant to guide it down to the drainage ditch. It rushes down the lot and down into the corner hole before spurting out two spaces where the beams have been pushed apart.

The teenage boys... nice kids. I'm lucky... the young ones seem to like to talk to me. The old smile as a defense mechanism routine. I have white hair but I tend to come off a lot younger than I am. It is long and naturally curly. I had it up in a pony tail yesterday and was bopping along with my aviator sunglasses on. Couldn't tell what they were up to when I approached so I smiled to see how they'd react.

They immediately started showing me how their sticky balls worked. I thought it was cute that they wanted me to try it... so I did. Actually, I could have thrown it a lot harder but I thought I'd play it girl-like. <g>

It was fun... I adore looking at and talking to cute young guys (just the way men adore looking at and talking to cute young girls). What the heck.

Have a good one.
