Yeah. remember the old $100-dollar bill test? They would put a $100-dollar bill on the dash and if you reach it while punching it off the line you could keep it. I had more than one friend that owned such a car. My pals were true hot fans, I ran around with a bunch of speed and driving skill freaks that attended the local poly-tech high school. Tunnel-Rams intakes, aggressive cams and dual-quad carbs were not unusual.

Ahhhh... those truly were the days; I truly miss them. Some would tell you I had a tough childhood, a rough time in a semi-rough neighborhood, even I might say so if asked at the right time.

However, most of what I remember was the freedom of the times, the fast cars, affordable gas, good friends and good times aplenty, and oh yes, the young girls of our hippie era. I grew up and in the right time and with the right bunch; I remember riding in and driving many of the great cars, working on these cars and enjoying cruises, cruise-ins, drive-in burger joints with car-hops and drive-in theaters and the plethora of drag races on the street and sometimes at the track. We had so many weekends at the rivers edge and in great parks and many good times at the beach that was a short trip away; there was always a group of us.
