Somehow it managed to stay stuck to the machine somewhere while I drove it about 1/4 mile to the workshop only to fall off at the most convenient place.

About 16 years ago, I moved myself halfway across (this) country, using a five-ton U-Haul truck towing my car behind. About 10 PM, in the middel of absolute nowhere, the right front tire blew. It was all I could do to hold the thing near the road, as the blown tire jammed into the wheel well. When I saw the shoulder widen, I just let it lurch to the right into what seemed like a driveway. After the truck ground to a halt, I looked up. There was a big sign over a building...
