I agree, when a country has clearly surpassed the USA in both efficiency and ability to manufacture, its naive to think the "made in USA" is some sort of specialty quality assurance. We are not a manufacturing economy anymore and to fight that fact is just silly.

I have and still use 25+ year old Milwaukee tools and they are built better than today's brand and working 100%. They are my backup because today's Milwaukee tools are not made as well.

Example recently is the M-28 volt series over the former V-28 volt cordless 1/2" hammer drill: Chucks are crap and already going bad a couple months after usage. The former ran 8 years without problem until time to have it repaired. Even the newer M series 12/18 volt jigsaws, etc crap, already we had to have ours serviced a couple months after purchase gfor parts going bad again. This costs time lost and income lost for a small business.

Previous series like the V 28's had Jacobs chucks, whereas today's newer markets M series have no name Chinese produced copy cat chucks that do not lock properly and bits fall out in use, etc...

AND trying to get warranty honored today is a waste of time and ridiculous what you are required to go through... Just sign of the times and indication of a former Giant going down slowly...
