For those that asked, IB = Interactive Brokers. There are other brokers as well that allow shorting penny stocks.

I have an etrade and ameritrade account. Both have margin and options approval. Neither account allows the shorting of ELTP. I'm thinking that many brokers lack the tools for shorting pennies. I have shorted other non penny stocks with no problem. When it comes to ELTP, I think one would have to be a bit foolish to short as the liability could be very great to cover. I think the upside for price appreciation is so much greater than any fluctuation to the downside. IMHO, Max
