The only "controversy" is manufactured. The loudest complaining voice getting press doesnt validate the accuracy of facts. Which are this: THe biggest whiner is an attorney acting as a representative of the more backward cultivators and processors who dont feel fundamentally their products should be tested at all. Typical dinosaur thinking of the "druggie dopehead" Does it get you high, man... thats all anyone cares about bro....

They are using the argument that the delays are killing their business. Well the policy rolled out on Oct 1 2016 and because the OLCC didnt get around to properly funding the required amount of people to certify labs as accredited in time for that date, combined with a brand new infrastructure to implement and being in the middle of the outdoor harvest and many edible producers reluctant to provide exact ingredients that could speed up their tests among many other growing pains... yes there were delays...

But today, in the real world, those delays are very infrequent. Besides the issues with the edibles people.... who i understand are coming around to the fact that they can either provide complete ingredient lists or they can get incomplete tests that take three weeks and cost three times as much.

Once SGBY for example has their newly purchased pesticide equipment certified and up and running they will streamline the process by not having to outsource the pesticide tests - which are currently the biggest drag on throughput efficiency - as well as bump up their operating margins as those with the pesticide machines are certainly taking advantage of the market demand. Extra high prices. Extra slow service. Cause where else are ya gonna go sucker.

All that being said the feedback the various consulting conversations between the industry and the government is things are working well now. And patient saftey is paramount - So i dont anticipate much change of any kind other than some tweaks. There is no controversy. Only in the minds of greedy fucks who resent a 1-3% hit to their margins at the expense of the health of their customers. Fuck those guys.
