It's called a partial fill. No one puts orders in for that small. It happens very often - I see this question so often. Just because a print goes through for a tiny amount either on the bid or ask doesn't mean that someone put that order in for that amount. It stinks for that person because if it doesn't end up filling more or completely by the end of the day it cost you a commission with only 5 shares bought or sold. The only way to guarantee that doesn't happen is to put the order in as an AON (all or none) which means the entire order needs to fill or you don't want it. The problem with all or none is that they are special orders and don't get priority fills.
