I think what you should consider is that the data from that study was available in November of 2015. Mannkind refused to release it until the June, 2016, ADA meeting. There, no one paid any attention whatsoever.
Eventually, MNKD got around to filing for a label change, or so they claim. yet the results won't be known until around September of 2017. That implies they didn't file until around six months before, or about February of this year.
So it's going to take two years since the data was originally collected to find out if maybe there might be a label change. Why wasn't there more urgency in their effort? Now even if they do get a change, what value will it be except maybe to the trustee of the bankruptcy court?
I think the label change was just a "red herring." They knew all along that whatever happened, it would be irrelevant to MNKD's future.
