What does "IP" stand for?Only thing that comes to mind is internet protocol and IPO initial public offering.

If it is not uncommon for biotech companies to go public before they are generating any revenue - it should be very easy for you to name a few.

I don't recall any IPOs where the company went public on a promise.

Theranos raised $725 million in venture capital but never went public.
