I'm guessing the 15-20 year investment may have totaled 7-figures. As I recall the guy owned a business and nice house at one time. Probably borrowed against everything. Mom was probably destitute after he died.

Dad wasn't your typical penny player. He was very active on stock boards for years, but only posted on one stock. Perfect example of falling in love with a stock. The stock had been on the NASDAQ before the dot com collapse. But the stock had tons of red flags.

Story belongs in textbooks. So many lessons there.

I have huge unrealized capital gain loses.....offsetting with real estate capital gains and I just realized that all my no tax benefit bonds ( the non munis) appreciating only on maturity can be offset by my tax losses.
