I got a copy of Flight Simulator for my XT and used to spend countless hours with it.
Until I discovered this little executable on the machine called GWBasic. From my first "Hello World", I was hooked. Programming became my "video games".
And I saw and learned many languages along the way, and oddly enough, the language I use the most now is nothing but a superset of GWBasic.
ah yes...the 286 was my first 'ibm compatible'. the lil baby that got be interested in the world of computers was the Commodore 64. now that was a beauty at the time...I remember coding in Basic trying to create games with sprite graphics...peeks and pokes.
I also was very fond of my Colico Vision videogame console...it had the adapter that allowed you to play Atari 2600...I think I still have that stashed away somewhere.
