No - you bought shares in the open market. The cash you put in did not go directly to SGYP, it went to whoever held the shares you bought before you did. They closed out some risk, you took some on. The company was not involved in the transaction.
I kind of like the unconventional approach to getting directly to patients, so as to have them go to their docs and say "I heard about this new drug...".
