That may be a pet dream of some people, but if you can explain the physics of how an alternate memory can beat the price, performance, and density of decades worth of DRAM experience in the short term (and not 10-20 years out when it's too hard to make smaller CMOS transistors on silicon), then I'd be interested in what you have to say. Otherwise, keep dreaming.

DRAM, whether SDR or DDR, runs at the same speed. DDR and SDR are interface specifications that work with the internal buffers of the chip to transfer the information faster. A random row selection takes somewhere on the order of 40ns (I think). Once that row is selected, you can move the data from that row since it is already selected. I might have gotten row and column reversed, but...

Anyway, Coatue's polymer memory is supposed to be accessable somewhere around 10ns.
