Markets close at 4pm, when the conference starts. If its bad news, do they really think we'll forget by the next morning.

I'm not aware of companies conducting investor conference calls while the market is still open. Most, if not all, are conducted after the market closes. And it's on a Tuesday, not Friday, which is when they would ordinarily schedule calls with bad news.
