the significant differences between phase II and III are that the latter requires more patients to be recruited and is a direct comparison between the therapy under investigation and the current standard of treatment for that particular condition.

Look at the clinical trials underway currently, taken from company web page. Looks like MARVEL combines both phase II/III trials.

The second part of phase II/III trials has more patients than part one.
