The government does not have to shut down Fannie and Freddie they can accomplish the same result by draining all the life giving profits every quarter till they become too weak to stand on their own two feet and die under their own weight of expenses. At the same time the government enjoys the billion of dollars of stolen money they take each quarter. Isn't that pretty obvious what is going on here.
