You said you lost interest in hunting... do you still fish? We could use some good fish tales... if our buddy gp ever shows up again perhaps he'll provide a few that you could play off of. I thought that was the only reason he moved to Branson MO was to do lots and lots of fishing.
My folks are heading up to Canada on Saturday for their annual two-week lakeside fishing vacation. They've been going there for 34 years now... Yipe. I was 18 when they started this. Because I had a summer job, I was excused. Yippee! I went up there once for a day stayover on my way to Michigan via Canada. Not my cup of tea.
My married with children sister used to go up with her family for the first week. They loved it. My parents loved having them and loved having the second week to themselves. <ggg> My sister's kids are older now and life is too hectic at the end of the summer to continue the tradition. Sad.
I worry that these trips are going to be short-lived. They tow a 16-foot boat. Tiring. Fortunately, there are nice people who go to this place who come running when my dad puts the boat in the water and takes it out. However, the only comment my dad made about last year's trip was that "fishing is a lot of work." Not a good sign.
I just hope they have a safe trip and a good time.
