There was no need for him to talk about a fake promo if her only wanted to buy shares - there was a whole shitload of them available on the market for trip 1s.
If the promo was indeed fake what was the real intention behind it???
Perhaps there was something in the pipeline which may now be delayed - truth is we don't know but cancelling the R/S does suggest that there's something brewing here and I guess only time will tell...
