Pfizer is a very good producer, not that I would say they're in the upper echelon, but not far behind.
When they announce their acquisition of Hospira I think I even mentioned on IH that it really is a step backwards for Pfizer. What we're seeing in Kansas is that "Old Habits" are really hard to break.
Hospira's niche always was basically as a hospital supply company dealing in the items you'd see in a operating or hospital room. Saline's, infusion pumps, monitoring equipment etc. They eventually were forced to be a low cost producer because price mattered when going against foreign producers.
Hospira still has to operate in a low cost environment so Pfizer's higher cost policies constantly collide together.
