Re: self directed college savings plans. I guess they are Ok but i remain skeptical because all are state plans subject to state legislative whims and changes, and, i believe, most if not all, require that your progeny attend college in state. I went the uniform gift to minors path but that has the risk of their having control once they turn 21. Wasn't a problem with mine but certainly could be.
