I spoke briefly with EOS as I had met him the week before in Houston. I didn't hang around the Sigma Labs booth much so I can't comment as to how much traffic they got. One other guy came as I was there, but I overheard him say that he was involved with non-metal AM, so I didn't hang around to hear what he had to say.
I didn't attend any of the technical sessions, but I did attend a panel discussion ...
The panel included Mark Benedict who serves as the chief technical advisor for the America Makes National Innovation Institute. He gave a positive implication towards research that was to be completed soon, but did not speak directly. I thought of the America Makes 4027 presentation in El Paso next week, but I had my PR3D colored glasses on.
It was interesting to hear this discussion. What I took away was that AM is still in its infancy. Lots more development to be done before it hits the main stream. I think for us in the short term, the best thing that could happen is for GE to install PR3D into their machines in Auburn.
