There is a "multiple account" practice among unscrupulous traders.

One account is used to manipulate the share price -- selling single shares or very small lots to drop the price and promote fear.

The other account is open with a large bid to accumulate shares shaken through the manipulation.

Just a little illegal, and while people think it's easy to get away with, they eventually get greedy, stupid and caught.
