Ryzen is 9% faster than the 6900K in this bench, but it consumes 30% more power to get that edge (as an aside: 6950X consumes less power than 6900K does and outperforms the 1800X in this workload).

Why is the Ryzen 1800X system's power consumption under load lower than the 6900K system's power consumption under load, while getting a higher score?

Is that not important?

I also wonder what the price differential between those systems is, too... I just looked, the 6900K is $999 on Amazon right now... 6950x is $1627.

(A Ryzen 7 1800X is $553, i.e. 1/2 and 1/3 the price, respectively.)

That teensy edge in either power consumption and/or performance sure does hit you in the wallet...
