Hi al, yes I'm against the border wall because all it is is a vastly more expensive fence. If we need more miles of barrier then we should build more double fencing (which by the way, at $1M per mile aint cheap either).

And by the way, my border security wish is more extreme than Trump or red state america. In areas near border towns like San diego and Nogales, the government should take 50 yards on either side of the border. I dont care who owns it or what's there. Use the 100 yards as a DMZ so make catching illegal border crossers near towns easier to catch. It would also make tunnels easier to find. I also think that entry into Mexico on the US border should be controlled by the US. That way the US controls both entry AND exit on our border with Mexico.

No one has ever suggested anything that extreme.

And as we discussed, fence cutting and jumping is only a part of illegal immigration. For example, You mentioned eVerify to prevent illegals from working.

So instead of wasting $20M per mile on a wall, spend it on things that will actually make a difference.

Hi Al, I stand corrected -- bids for wall prototypes are now being requested

https://www.fbo.gov/index?s=opportunity&mode=form&id=b8e1b2a6876519ca0aedd748e1e491cf&tab=core&tabmode=list&=

But we'll see how long it takes to go from prototype to actually constructing a wall.
