It's a good thing Apple doesn't make desktop or laptop CPUs with higher TDP budgets as the 2W iPhone 7 in a lagging TSMC 14FF process is pretty close to Skylake-Y @ 4.5W.

Agreed, Apple is...well, let's just say that their semi teams are very highly thought of in the industry. More than once I have been told by engineers that Apple has the "best core development team in the industry."

Really a league of their own. Intel had better step it up because the Apple guys really are incredible.
