Top 50 Percent of All Taxpayers Paid 97.2 Percent of All Federal Income Taxes; Top 1 Percent Paid 38.1 Percent; and Bottom 90 Percent Paid 29.7 Percent of All Federal Income Taxes
see link regarding income taxes who pays what. There are other taxes, not taken into account, the most obvious sales tax, and real estate. there are taxes on cell phones, cigarrettes booze and so on.

if you scroll through you will see the % of Adj Gross income. back in my school days we used disposabal income. maybe that is too subjective. Anyway, my guess is you are all correct on your points. it is just how the data fits into your perception. Rich People pay a lot of income Tax period. top 50% of people pay a say 20% of thier AGI. Factor in non progressive taxes above and the effectives of fixed taxes is greater on AGI than for lower incomes than higher incomes. you buy more shit you pay more taxes. Their is some choice here. It is not the rich responsibility to pay lowers cell phone. cigarretes and booze. On the other hand those taxes if high are merely punishing the poor at the benefit of the rich,
