Yes, I know my timeline is longer than a settlement based one.

But unfortunately, a settlement just isn't realistic. So that only leaves the 2-5 year timeline that you just suggested.

The GM case isn't equatable to the GSE case. Simply put, GM did not have HERA. HERA creates so many levels of complexity that just has never existed before.

The government won't settle because they have no incentive to. Any settlement won't cover all possible lawsuits, and therefore the government would be giving something up but still have the ability to be sued anyway.

I would love this to end tomorrow in our favor...but we still have a while to wait.

I suppose we could have an unexpected announcement of Mnuchin ending the NWS or something...but shy of such a shocking turnabout, the courts will take years...this is the main reason the stock is still so low. It's still uncertain to most long term investors.
