My point, more specifically, is that there is nothing special about what MJMJ brings to the table which would allow it to franchise anything.
If one of the thousands of B&B's, which already exist in a particular state in which marijuana were to suddenly become legal, wanted to convert its operation to a marijuana-ready operation, that B&B WOULD NOT NEED MJMJ to help it convert their operation.
Any such B&B would simply need to (i) add marijuana to its menu; and (ii) if a license were needed to have marijuana on its premises, get such a license.
Why would an already-existing operation need Joel and MJMJ to accomplish that ?
As far as your analogy to McDonald's selling Bic Mac's, you are well aware that that analogy has absolutely no relevance at all to MJMJ. Period.
