Yes, you are right, there's no law that this time has to be the same, obviously there are still true believers and that's a good thing.
The previous version didn't run into real-world problems, that's a very passive-aggressive construct, they released it without proper testing or ignored the results of the testing - either way, that's how a management team loses credibility. It was an inferior product with an outdated concept of HD quality which had no chance of success.
