They might need MS for applications where a high elasticity is desired. Mundane clothing such as socks, panty hose, sportswear, etc. would be good applications for it. DS would be better for applications where a higher strength and lower elasticity is desired such as jackets, vests, lining, and tents.

Now, once this new Über Silk is perfected and moved out of the lab into production, i think it will replace MS assuming it has actually started in Vietnam by then in the same way that DS has replaced Big Red.

Possibly the best silk for apparel on the planet, by one or more metrics? It leaves MS able to be produced anywhere on the planet. Vietnam wouldn't be making things happen if they felt the way you do.

Good question Mojo but the answer is that it doesn't really matter where it leaves MS.
We are not getting Vietnam together to make MS we are making High tech silk. Whichever we need.
Monster silk is/was the silk we had when we started the process to go to VN. We are in no way obligated to produce that strain. If a better strain is made while the process is going on that silk should be used and the silk currently use can be scrapped.
They can just start using the new strain as "Monstersilk".

Who is to say that the silk named Monstersilk hasn't already been replaced by 4 other strains?

Until it is on the market a change in the fiber named "Monstersilk" wont matter to anyone. Its really just an inventory name anyway. If UA started using it they would possibly name the fiber something totally different for marketing reasons.

It seems that you do not understand something very basic about KBLB

again..if they are going to use ds for clothing and bullet proof vests and apparently everything in between, what is the purpose of ms?....or in several years will we be hearing how ms served its purpose and we chucked it into the garbage can?...

KBLB was not created to market and produce a particular product!
It exists to create and refine a broad range of products.

Look again at the company logo:
THE FUTURE IS MADE IN THE LABORATORY
while not quite "chucked into the garbage can" if KBLB continues to be a successful and growing and progressing company there will come a time when not just Big Red, but MS and DS and many other once promising strains are preserved for history and for possible use as starting points for new strains only as some frozen eggs that get regenerated once every few years by a "genetic librarian".
KBLB is first and foremost a RESEARCH company.
Every existing strain will eventually be replaced by better ones.

This might not be YOUR ideal investment vehicle, but it is what KBLB is.
If that is not what you want it to be then perhaps you should move on to other investments, because you have no control here, we are all just along for the ride on Kim Thomson's tiger.
