I think the markets are heavily manipulated by hedge funds. Did you ever wonder why volume is up when a stock is bottoming out? It becomes much harder to beat a stock down, so they use a different approach. Self-matching. The purpose is to create an illusion that there are sellers in the market when there are none in reality. And it doesn't cost them a penny. So that's fake volume.
