No joke. The main point, IMO, is that the average annual increase in the net price (i.e. the price realized by MRK after discounts/rebates) is considerably less than the average annual increase in the list price.
The average discount/rebate, as a percentage of the list price, rose monotonically from 27% in 2010 to 41% in 2016.
