Republican Event To Discuss Repealing Obamacare Just Backfired Beautifully
ByJames DeVinne
January 15, 2017

Berthie Ruoff and hundreds of other constituents worried about losing their health insurance showed up to meet with Congressman Mike Coffman (R-CO) at the Aurora Central Library this Saturday. They were hoping to learn more about how the Republican effort to repeal the Affordable Care Act would affect them and their families. For many, like Mrs. Ruoff, the effects will be drastic. “My husband passed away and the only way I was able to get insurance was through the Affordable Care Act, Obamacare,” she said as hundreds of people gathered at the library.

However, Mrs. Ruoff, along with hundreds of fellow Coloradans, would not be able to meet with Rep. Coffman that day. Rather than address the crowd in town-hall style, which would of course have exposed the Congressman to the ire of the constituents he is intentionally defrauding, he chose to meet with only four people at a time for five minutes each. Thus of the hundreds gathered to voice their grievances, only seventy were able to actually meet with the Congressman, and for very little time at that.

Another woman at the event, Krondia Siebert, said that she just wanted to voice her concerns. Instead, she ended up organizing the crowd at the library as they chanted and sung in protest. “The Representative didn’t have a plan. They expected just a small handful of people to show up,” Siebert said. “We were under the understanding it was a town hall meeting and they were only allowing four people in at a time.”

Worse, Coffman, overwhelmed by the flood of angry constituents, arranged with the Aurora Police Department to secretly slip out of the library more than six minutes before the meeting was scheduled to end. “We were told at one point everyone would get their time and then he sneaks out six minutes early. I think he couldn’t handle it,” said Aurora resident Stephanie Brook.

Ben Stein, Coffman’s chief of staff, released a statement apologizing for the incident and claiming that the allotted 90 minutes was “usually enough time to see everyone.” For the hundreds of frightened men and women unsure what to expect from losing their health insurance, however, that apology must fall quite flat. “I am potentially going to lose my health insurance. I’ve had a preexisting condition. I’ve had breast cancer. What’s going to happen to me?” Ruoff said. “My spouse who had health insurance passed away. What do I do? You know, what am I supposed to do?”

That question, “what am I supposed to do,” is echoing from the voices of millions of Americans across the country but is falling on willfully deaf ears on Capitol Hill. Coffman’s shameful sneak exit and dismissal of his constituents is only the most literal example of a tremendous Republican disregard for the public good that is playing out across the country as Trump’s lackeys in Congress gear up to repeal Obamacare with no working alternative.

The devastating effects of repealing Obamacare are undeniable: as many as 24 million Americans will lose health insurance, another 30 million will be at risk of being denied coverage because of pre-existing conditions, and the average annual out-of-pocket cost of health insurance will shoot up by some $1,500. Hundreds of people will literally die unnecessarily just so rich Republicans and their millionaire cronies can lower their already deflated tax bills. If the GOP continues down the road to Obamacare repeal – which they almost certainly will – they can expect the anger that played out in Aurora on Saturday to be repeated across the country on a massive scale.

Interesting theme to your honest opinion re: women....

I'd like to hear you expound on the why...In my community, being a P*ssy Grabber alone would be a deal killer (except for the good 'ol boy mentality who would see this as an excusable plus...)

And in MY honest opinion, just #2 IS sufficient to disqualify ANYONE.

It's like the question of which basket won the game...the first one or the 10 point run in the middle or the last 3 pointer from beyond the arc, assisted by the opposition...

If you're a woman, know a woman or have daughters...

A Republican Politician Just Grabbed a Woman by The P*ssy and Gave a Terrible Excuse
By James DeVinne
January 15, 2017

A local Republican politician in the posh town of Greenwich, CT was arrested recently for grabbing a woman by the genitals, an assault he and his lawyer characterized as “a playful gesture.” Christopher von Keyserling, 71 and a long time member of the Greenwich town council, was arrested on Wednesday and charged with fourth-degree sexual assault. He was released on $2,500 bail and has a court date set for January 25.

The incident occurred last month when von Keyserling encountered a 57 year-old woman in a hallway. A brief political argument ensued in which von Keyserling reportedly said “I love this new world, I no longer have to be politically correct.” When the woman tried to walk away, von Keyserling allegedly reached between her legs and pinched her groin, adding to the woman that “it would be your word against mine and no one will believe you.”

That’s right. In Trump’s America, Republican politicians can now “grab women by the p*ssy” since they don’t “have to be politically correct.”

According to police, surveillance footage of the incident is entirely consistent with the woman’s account.

While this incident is merely one of the thousands of cases of sexual assault every day in this country, it is indicative of the disgusting attitudes of male entitlement that drive so much sexual violence and that are now sanctioned by the highest levels of government. To characterize a sexual assault as “playful,” or to believe that non-consensually grabbing a woman’s genitals could ever be a “jocular moment” is to reduce all women to passive objects waiting to be fu*ked.

The incident is also a frightening indication of how our politicians’ words and actions have real effects for ordinary people. Von Keyserling was clearly taking his cue from Donald Trump, not only in his repudiation of so-called “political correctness” but of course also in his grabbing a woman by the pu*sy, as Mr. Trump infamously bragged he could do freely. A tragically high number of men, Trump and von Keyserling included, seem to believe that if they can do it they should do it. Hence Trump’s pride at the groping powers his celebrity status granted him and von Keyserling’s telling his victim that nobody would believe her.

What is most dangerous about the present situation, however, is the conflation of the fabricated war on political correctness with a free pass to sexually assault. Von Keyserling clearly saw his assault as part of the new opportunities granted him by the overthrow of “political correctness.” And given the fact that Trump and other top Republicans have repeatedly defended the president-elect’s many sexual assaults in similar terms, it is no surprise that Trump’s followers are taking after their idol.

The Republican Party currently unofficially endorses sexual assault. Worse, it presents such abuse as a brave repudiation of “political correctness.” All decent Americans have a duty to fight back against this patriarchal oppression, which is why next weekend’s Women’s March on Washington is so important.
