Sounds reasonable.

Knowledge is knowing that a Tomato is a fruit.
Wisdom is knowing said Tomato does not belong in a fruit salad.
Philosophy is wondering if Ketchup is a Tomato Smoothie.

What is the essence of intelligence?

derfie really liked this one....

Which of these characteristics can derfie evaluate his intellectual ability?

1. If a person knows "what" happens, they have average ability.
2. If they know "how" it happens, they have superior ability.
3. If they know "why" it happens, they have exceptional ability.

First we need to identify a "what" worthy to determine such evaluation of derfie's intellectual ability.

Nothing mundane, but an investigation into the pinnacle of wonders, having perplexed all so far to explain.

It's an offshoot of "What is the meaning of life."

Here we know the "what," as us humans evolved from a single cell to having intellectual abilities.

Now we wonder for answers on the "how" and "why" for this to happen.

Please note that the "what" has already been addressed in a fashion to include a "how" in regards to DNA (a molecule that carries the genetic instructions used in the growth, development, functioning and reproduction of all known living organisms and many viruses.)

Yes,
But for this test of derfie's intellectual ability we need to advance a different "how" that attaches a possible answer to how the DNA arrived.

Many simply say DNA evolved from a chance arraignment of atoms over millions or billions of years to mimic a Charles Darwin type of evolution that resulted from a process he called natural selection.

Yes,
But those that hold this answer are simple minded in design to avoid any attempt of creative thinking.

Another answer, which is possible for validity, is the pseudo scientific concept of "Intelligent Design" that certain features of the universe and of living things are best explained by an intelligent cause, not an undirected process such as natural selection. Here most holding this view acknowledge an existence of a God as the source.

But,
Lets exclude the God concept as an answer, even thought it may be correct. Why is simply that it's a non-answer based on faith, and as such religion beliefs are whatever humans surmise as best fitting their way to create something of imagination that creates a structure for society to conduct itself as for rules such that it allows those that created such religion to control those that accept it willingly or through threat.

So,
Have derfie put forth a "how," in the form of a procedure taken, to explain how us humans came to be here on Earth.

I suggest a direction taken, for derfie, as follows.

Extraterrestrial life, also called alien life is life that does not originate from Earth. These as-yet-hypothetical life forms may range from simple bacteria-like organisms to beings with civilizations far more advanced than humanity.

There,
Let derfie give his "how," that can include a possible "why," to us humans being here on Earth that also includes the existence of extraterrestrial life beings with civilizations far more advanced than humanity.

ok ?
